I would ask, how long have you had them? Have they both been in the tank together for a while (few weeks)? It sounds like one is just a bit dominant over the other or maybe one is just rather shy for a clown loach. Really hard to say. I don't think you have anything in particular to worry about, it dosen't sounds like either of them is sick or anything. You might try adding some sinking food like shrimp pellets to there diet, they would enjoy that and will do well on the variety.

If the fish is dashing and darting like when you cant get to that spot on your back and it is itching, he is doing the same to get the parasites off aka ICK. Now if he isnt he could be skidish because of other fish he doesnt feel safe even though he is hiding he may not feel safe to venture out try moving some stuff around or even a couple more hiding spots. See if the light is off if he comes out more fish are totally different when the lights are on or off. If he comes out more it is cause he is scared during light hours. write back

If he is swimming funny, bumping into things, swimming sideways, having trouble staying buoyant in the water, or having trouble getting off the bottom, he could have a swim bladder or constipation problem. There isn't much that can be done for swim bladder but constipation can be cured with cooked green peas. If that is the problem, it is best to isolate him and withhold food for a couple days and then feed him the peas (make sure you remove the skin ans they can't digest it).

the same thing happened to one of my female guppies. She seemed almost drunk. I was afraid for the others, so i isolated her in a fish bowl. She layed on the bottom for a couple weeks and ate a little. She ended up getting much better and she had some babies. I'm not positive this will work for your fish, but it helped mine.

Lisa---if he is kinda like trying to scratch himself in the gravel he may have ick----------look at him very carefully and if you see any white spots go to a pat shop right away and get anti ick medicine.

You don't have any thing to worry about, just a shy fish. He's fine. It could be that he is simply getting used to you if you barely got him or her.
