run it under warm water, or you can put it over a lighter for a few seconds.

A quick and easy fix is to get a warm, wet sponge and just rub the tip with the sponge. Sometimes, the tip is hard at first, but if you sharpen it a little, you get to the softer part. If it is a wooden eyeliner pencil (not one that turns to increase or one that is liquid) it should be somewhat hard. NYC also is not an amazing brand. Next time, if you can afford it, buy a bit more expensive eyeliner such as Maybelline or Clinique. If you can't, keep trying these tricks and keep making yourself look even more fabulous.

The tip on these types of pencils get softer either after a sharpening or exposure to some type of heat (like a lighter or hairdryer)

There are many other types of eyeliner. Some come in a crayon- like form, making it easier to glide the pencil over you eye. Some of these come in a plastic tube that twists at the bottom. There is also liquid eyeliner. The applicator for this type of eyeliner either come in a brush or cone form , but the cone form is more accurate and even when applying. This type of eyeliner gives more of a harsh and darker line, but is easy to use after practice.

Hope this helped

sometimes right after sharpening my eyeliner i will press the tip down a little or scribble on paper with it, it gives it a start.

it seems like the eyeliner you have is really cheap, if u can really splurge id buy a mac eyeliner(my fav) but if you cant i would get something like covergirl.

also when applying remember where you are about to go. eyeliner is a great accessory because you can control how heavy(which is better for nights) or how subtle(better for day time) you put it on.

i had eyeliner like that all you have to do is use it about 4 or 5 times to wear down the tip and then it won't feel so hard. if u want to you can write with it but don't write a lot just enough to wear out the tip. i tried it with my eyeliner and it works

Ive noticed that NYC eyeliners go on easier when they are darker. I bought a white one too and it was difficult to apply and didnt show up. I would try a different brand, maybe MAC.

i have never been able to use a pencil--hurts my lids no matter what--i have to buy cake liner that you wet with water and apply with brush (like a paint brush) I use clinique--more expensive but not irritating! Good luck!

maybe you should sharpen it but keep it a bit tall. if that doesnt work buy eyeliner by more teenage looking makeup. They tend to make those makeups more colorful.

get a cotton ball wet w/ warm water, and run the pencil over that and it will be wet
don't run it under the water, then it might melt
cheers!
