Whats the purpose of an inferrior game which has no international competition ! Who can you play against other than yourselves (or with yourselves) ! Rugby League & Union are both International codes where we have dominated the World at different stages in the history of both codes ! (we dont just play against ourselves !). Its a huge embaresment when you travel to certain ignorant countries like the USA and they think Australian Footballers are girls in singlets and tights ! See what sort of an image you idiots have created and its always up to the real men of League & Union to prove the World wrong again and again and again, in most New South Wales Schools to play "Aussie Rules" is a self declaration of cowardice as your admitting your not strong or tough enough to play eith League or Rugby, such cowards were always delt with and made a mockery of as with most things Victorian, the only good thing to come out of Melbourne is the Hume Highway !

Wow thanks for the response - really ! However just to clarify a few points just like Victorians who we really don't consider Australian but dirty mexicans, we actually prefer Kiwis to Vics up here in the Premier City, because its a cowardly cheap shot game ! How brave is it to hit a bloke when his not looking you Vics are Cowards, in Rugby League - the worlds toughest contact sport that would be a death wish ! Its probably because the cowards that jump like fairys in the air cant stand toe-toe or out shoulder an opponent, thus would not survive in Rugby League ! Vics are irrelevant we dont really want you as part of our Country anyway - never have really ! Apart from a horse race what do you have ? By the way Australia has won more Rugby Union World Cups than any other Nation, NZ although considered the strongest always "choke". Melbourne is horrid a dirty little town on the banks of a muddy river in comparison to Sydney ! You always run a distant 2nd, before long it'll be 3-4th

Response: We just had a Canada Vs States match, and the States won yet again. so there is international competition.

Who can you play against other than yourselves (or with yourselves) !
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Well the AFL has a series of teams and leagues, there's international teams in Canada, Ireland, Africa, USA, and multiple other countries. Not to mention the USAFL here in the states has 60 teams of players and hundreds of matches every year.
Aussie rules: 2 Wayne: 0
Rugby League & Union are both International codes where we have dominated the World at different stages in the history of both codes !
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Well Soccer has dominated the world game, basketball is quite huge, some may even call cricket a bigger draw then rugby, however this is all opinion.
NO Points Awarded
Its a huge embarrassment when you travel to certain ignorant countries like the USA and they think Australian Footballers are girls in singlets and tights !
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
LOL, first we're not all ignorant, and nor do we consider them to be girls in tights. The most respect ever is given here considering that the NFL rules. The footy field is roughly 2-3 times larger then an NFL field and to Americans it has appeal because everyone is a QB, WR, Lineman, and kicker. Not to forget that there are Footy players playing in the NFL which is bringing credibility and recognition to the sport. The perception of rugby in the US is its a bunch of brain dead Neanderthals fighting and getting smashed afterwards ( Warranted or not)

Well aside the horrid grammar and length of that sentence, Aussie rules is gaining popularity at a much higher rate outside of Aus. You see, your(notice I used the right your, not you're) opinion and view includes acknowledgment of one and only one top sport. Why is it that both sports can't exist, and if you think that footy is such a weak sport I would love to hear your views on golf, basketball, tennis, etc. I find your entire argument opinionated and biased.

I think you've had your head in too many scrums Wayne. What's the average crowd at a Rugby match? 4000?League match? 10,000? At an AFL match? 30,000.
There are more Americans playing AFL then league because they appreciate the skill and speed of the game. As for Rugby, outside the internationals and some super 14s, it would have to be the slowest, most boring game around. Even soccer is more exciting.
I enjoy and was brought up on all three codes but would take AFL over the others any day.

omg u must have a reel problem. wow uve got a good a big response. I rekon afl is the best game followed by cricket and rugby union and then a few other sports and the rugby league.
In a majority of skools afl is the most popular sport, that has all of the popular and cool kids in it, usually though u have to play afl and rugby union (not league) to b cool.every1 at my skool talks about footy and we have free dress and other activities on the western derby day (freo vs eagles). If u havent noticed on the sport news afl is always the first...b4 rugby. I do enjoy rugby tho its pretty good, but only wen australia is playing against any1 but nz or the western force is playing. if u havent realised australia hasnt dominated rugby, but new zealand has, even if they dont have the record they r dominating at the present time.
and hoo cares wat usa think, wen afl went overseas they had large crowds of americans enjoying the game. we dont need to impress the otha countries, ur obviously insecure about something if u think we do! and girls can also play afl, and everyone noes girls in singlets and tights are cool! short shorts r also cool. stop being so sexist.
if we rnt international then how would we give them that impression. honestly afl rocks and yeah u must be like one of those geeky kids jealous of the popular kids hoo were good enough to play afl.
btw if aussie rules is pathetic and cowardly what about ping pong, golf, CHESS!?

You are so wrong, it is the best game. Get your facts straight before you go making comment. There is an international competition, at the end of every season Australian competes against Ireland in the International Rules series. Also at my old school (IN QUEENSLAND) the Aussie Rules boys were always more popular than the League & Union boys and were never considered cowards. And since when does anyone care about what Americans think, they are the biggest bunch of idiots in the world!!!!

I understand you don't like (actually, that's more like you hate) Aussie Rules, and I don't pretend to understand why that is, or why you want to wipe out that sport and its fans from the surface of the earth as if you were some sort of Hitler of sports. The only thing that puzzles me is trying to understand why you call it a "coward" game... have you seen them hit eachother? have you seen them run? have you seen them being carried out of the field with their bodies broken and bleeding? Well, I have, and it definitely takes guts to dare go into an oval, just as it takes to go into any Rugby field as well. And this comes from a guy who loves both rugbies AND aussie rules alike (though I must say aussie rules is a bit more fun to watch than rugby) Anyways mate, let this go! Aussie rules won't dissapear just because you want it to! And think that it is exactly this sort of thinking the one that brought us the nazis, the armenian genocide, the dictatorships in Latin America that exterminated tens of thousands of people, etc. I am not exagerating, you may think you have this going on just for football, but it is just the way that your hate found to get out, if this valve closes down tomorrow, it will have to find another one, and that day we´ll worry. Get help!!!

You're kidding right? AFL is one of the most amazing ball games I have ever seen! It's face paced and exciting! I can't imagine how you could consider some of the speckys I have seen to be part of a game that lacks courage! How about Tom Lonergan losing a kidney and almost his life during a game last year? How much courage would it take to line yourself up to take a knock that hard? Or James Hird having his face smashed to bits? Those men do have courage.and heaps of it!!! GO PIES!!!!!
PS: Regarding the crack about yanks.....I am an American living in Australia! Trust me! We aren't all bad!

Just because there isnt ant competition doesnt mean its cowardly. Look at the NFL in America!!! Anyway Aussie Rules takes just as much strength and a lot more skill than union or league.

It's funny Mr Kerr, in places like Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth you play rugby because you're not good enough to cut it playing AFL! Give me a game where contact can come from any direction, not just from the people in front of them (where's the skill in avoiding contact when you know it's coming). Get back in a scrum and stick your head up someone else's butt.

HEY CHAMP!,after reading your pathetic question (if you can call it one) i have come to the conclusion that you must be a skinny little nerd who has never played a mans sport, because people who play rugby, footy etc generally have some respect for other codes and can appreciate the skills involved in other sports. the only thing you have proved with your statement is that you are an idiot. GO STORM!

I love and appreciate all our codes. Aussie Rules is definitely not a cowards game, they play hard ongoing football and are extremely fit athletes. I've worked in NSW schools and have never found that playing one or the other is an admittance of cowardess or inferiority. In schools in NSW kids normally play all codes because they love to compete . A good game is not only judged by International liking or acknowledgment.
