I have Windows Live One Care and Windows Defender and it stops or removes everything that I've ever come across. Also, have you looked to see how much space is left on the drive? De-frag it and clean the disk regularly. It can cause your computer to run slow and cause files not to open. And like the other person in the earlier remarks said, you can always search online through windows for the program you need and download it if necessary. You still could have a Trojan. They can delete things from your library or even move them so they are no longer in the right place, hence, they can't be found. It may be that you accidentally deleted it at some point and did not realize it. I would say though, to upgrade your protection software. good luck.

Join the club. I used to have the same problem. Seems Norton can not remove some things. I do not know why. But have you tried to do a RESTORE. I know I loaded one virus program but the sucker had spyware with it. Of course, norton could find nothing wrong. Anyway, I did a restore and plan to report the SOBs as they were on cnet.com, and the program was supposed to be highly rated. Anyway, if anything, try the RESTORE.

Now if that does not work for one reason or another then save all the downloads files. It is faster to run the download from the cd instead of SLOWLY waiting for the internet to download it for you and then for you to run. I learned to put all the files in one notepad then load it up to my cd.

Remember. Don't load the porn sites in the chat rooms. They definitely have viruses. I did so many recoveries, I can do it by memory now. LOL Also, emails from girls who say they saw you on the internet. There was one that when I tried to download the attachment Norton would not do it cuz it said it contained a virus. THe supposedly girl said it was her picture. Slick way to slide a virus in. Once I got Norton anti virus all my problems went away and I have not done ONE recovery yet. Yea, it is ruff now, I do not know if I can handle the boredom now. lol

All I can really think of is getting a good antivirus programme, Norton is the best in my experience. Get a complete system scan done and see how it goes, any viruses should be quarantined etc. There is the whole rebooting the whole system but you'd have to make sure you back up all of the files you need because you'd lose everything.
If the antivirus programme doesn't work maybe you could take it back to where you bought it and enquire about the best way of fixing it would be.
