I'm asking this because I don't care for country music in the slightest, but I enjoy both of Shooter's albums because to me they feel more like Southern rock in the vein of Molly Hatchet and Skynyrd and not his father or Johnny Cash. Am I wrong in thinking this?

Well, a lot of southern outlaw types get put into both. It happens............besides I often wondered why the heck Los Lonely Boys were on CMT too. They're not even close to country. but oh well.....

southern rock and country are often classified together. Waylon was the same way. As Travis Tritt says, " I mixed southern rock with country"
Skynyrd is southern rock but I have yet to meet a country fan you does not love southern rock esp skynyrd
