Ten.
Six cats, two big, dumb dogs and two ferrets.
Yeah, they're a fair amount of work. Litter box has to be cleaned every day for the cats. Ferret cage needs cleaning every second day. Ferrets need to be let out daily to run and play, then cleaned up after. Dogs let out and back in several times a day. Food and fresh water a couple times a day for all.
Good pet food costs money. Cheap pet food costs more, when you include the heartbreak and vet bills. Avoid cheap, low-quality pet foods completely.
Vet bills are a concern. ALL pets need vet care from time to time and vets ain't cheap (but they ARE well worth the fees.)
The love and joy we get from our pets far outweighs the work and expense.
Hope that helps.

3 Cats. 2 female; 1 is 4 years old & the other is just over 1 year. My other cat is a male and he is 3 years old.
Cats are quite loyal and they are good for your health as well... It has been proven that petting a cat will lower your blood pressure. Personally I believe it really works. When I get really angry or have had a horrible day I come home and pick up on of my little felines and I am instantly in a better mood.
Unless you decided to have a strictly outdoor cat then you are going to have to get a litter box as well... Those can get quite stinky if you do not keep up on cleaning them. If it becomes too dirty your cat might just decided to piss on your couch or something. Also.. if you live somewhere where there are scents of other animals your friendly and lovable feline might just decide to "mark it's territory" and piss somewhere to make it know that it is their turf now.
Also back to the litter box subject... If you decide to get a cat and litter box train them, just remember that its going to take a little time... rather like potty training a child. Also, from my own personal experience there is an all natural cat litter called Feline Pine and it is the one true god of all kitty litter... This stuff is semi-expensive, but when you take into consideration that one bag will last you about one month and that after wards you can use the pine dust from it for fertilizer for a garden or grass, that is one more household expense that it will cut...
Good luck with your decision!
Also... Spaying and or neutering are a very important role in helping to control the pet population... Don't let your care sleep around, lol, unless you can physically, and financially deal with have anywhere from 1-6 or more little felines running around.

I have nearly 100 pets.... So I would spend a lot more time than the average person caring for my zoo. What I have found is that the better organised you are, and the more efficiently you do things the less time it takes to properly care for your pets. On average I spend an hour a day doing feeding and cleaning. Then lots and lots of time interacting with my animals to make sure that they are adequately stimulated. I think in some ways the interaction is more important than the basic care. An animal can be clean, and well fed, and still be incredibly unhappy if it doesn't have enough social interaction or environmental stimulation.

3 cats, 2 dogs. They are not hard to keep, but my husband and I have the time, as we are recently retired. Cats are very good for working people, as they don't need as much attention as dogs. If you keep their cat pans clean, leave them food and water down and give them a few toys to play with, cats are very happy until you come home. I would suggest getting 2 cats if you do decide on cats. They keep each other company. Dogs are a bit more work and will take up more of your time. They will need to be walked for exercise, let out several times a day so they don't make a mess in your home and played with at least for a few minutes a day. A small dog does not need as much exercise as a big dog, but still needs some exercise.

Rat and mice make tremendous pets! as with each animal, they require interest and upkeep. earlier you purchase an animal, do your homework! What type of bedding is secure?(No pine or cedar shavings). What type of ingredients? Animal well being?(Is there a rodent vet on your section?) a majority of those issues should be seen. How a lot time are you keen and able to spend with the animal? Cages should be wiped clean a minimum of once per week. there's a lot to study, in spite of the undeniable fact that the payoff is worth it! i'm positive that you're going to really savour having a mouse or rat as a buddy! I recommend starting to be a member of between the various Yahoo discussion communities. I used to have a hamster and I was absolutely devastated when it died, but I was pretty young. Aside from that we've had a few other hamsters before mine and also fish. My mom had a dog at one point.
Anyway, it depends on what type of pet you have, small hamsters are easier because they don't need too much maintenance but dogs etc are more difficult because they need more attention.
I've decided not to have any pets anymore mainly because whatever pet you get costs money and takes up time...both of which I have precious little of lol.

I have 2 cats and 2 dogs...they aren't easy to keep. They require lots of time, training, and love. They can get expensive too...vet bills, groomers, food, kennels when you go away....etc... But, their companionship and love are well worth it all! Just be sure you are ready for the responsibility of a pet before you get one...too many puppies and kittens get taken home only to be dropped at the SPCA when they are no longer little and cute. You could have your pet for near 20 years ....

I have 2 dogs, 1 cat, 1 guinea pig, 1 rabbit, 1 fish, and 1 bird. 7 pets in all. They are managable, though it can be hard to take care of all of them at times.

Five housecats who never go outside. They are so easy to keep we often leave them alone for a week with plenty of hard cat food and plenty of water.Cats are so easy and fun.Low maintenance plus lots of love and each has their own personalities just like people. Get a cat...you won't be sorry.

I have one dog which is a Boston Terrier (touble at times to take care of and very expensive for food and medical supplies, don't forget barking, accidents, and needing to go to the bathroom at 4:00 AM think about it!), I have one lizard which is a Leopard Gecko (pretty easy to take care of, just refill the water dish everyday and always be on top of its food) I also have some fish (they are pretty easy to take care of but don't forget to refill the tank and feed them every day.) Also when you go away who is going to watch you pets?
