They signed a great foreign pitcher in Matsuzaka. Julio Lugo and J.D. Drew should really boost this team!! I like the Red Sox chanes for this year.
GO REDSOX!

I think it should be obvious to the media that Boston is the best team in the AL East. They're predicting New York in both Easts despite the fact that Boston and Philly have the best teams.
The Yankees are a shell of the team that was neck-and-neck with Boston for most of last year before Boston's collapse. Boston's healthy (Papelbon, Lester, Ortiz, and Varitek are back). They've added J.D. Drew, making Wily Mo Pena into a reserve (he's probably the best reserve in baseball). They've added Matsuzaka and moved Papelbon to the rotation (moving the most dominating closer since Eckersley was in his prime back to the rotation where he dominated in the minors is a great idea, as is signing a pitcher who is a Pedro clone in his prime). Beckett's had a year to adjust to the AL. Schilling's probably got 1 more good year left. Lugo is a huge upgrade over Gonzalez and Pedroia is a top prospect.
This team will probably be the one to oust the Yankees from the top spot for the first time in a decade.
They may not have the best bullpen, but bullpens are overrated anyway. A starting pitcher is far more valuable than a reliever because they pitch 4 times the innings.

Red Sox again will not be on top the AL East. If you think JD Drew is really going to help your team you are wrong. The guys completely inconsistent and will probably spend more time in the trainers room then in the field.
iin_operator....you gotta remember New York had a patchwork outfield most of the year and kept a good distance between them and Boston then, when they finally got a healthy squad they took over and totally dominated the east. The Red Sox fall started with a 5 game sweep by New York too. And i dont know if bullpens are totally overrated because many game are lost in the pen, teams with strong bull pens usually hold on to win games.

Looking very strong... except for the bullpen. Either Papelbon moves back to the bullpen or they need to trade for Cordero to compete with the Yanks for the division and all the AL powerhouses (Detroit, ChISox, LAA) for the wildcard.

They have never had a problem with scoring runs.... last year their picthing let them down and Dice-K should definitely help that rotation. If Jonathen Papelbon can be a good starting picther then they should give the Yankees a run for their money. Solid power, decent speed, and good picthing staff if it holds up...

I think that they look great. I am a Yankee's fan so I think the RED SOX will finish 2nd or 3rd so to me they are looking up at the Yankee's, but that should be a familar sight for them

I think they look like the best team in the AL because of their starting pitching, great defense and awesome hitting.
