My professor gave us this question and three others for a take home mid-term. Can anyone rephrase this question so I know what she is asking? I don't want someone to answer the question. I would like some other people's thoughts on what they think she is asking. She also asked us to defend our answer using information such as our knowledge of how intelligence has been previously defined and research findings about intelligence. Please I really need help with this one. It's due Monday and for this question I really don't know where to begin. By the way, this is for a course that teaches how to give different assessments like, IQ tests. If anyone has any ideas of what the question is really asking, please post.

What the professor is asking from you is to define intelligence from a psychological point of view. She wants you to define the abilities that make up the concept intelligence - like the ability to reason, learn from previous experience, the ability to recognize patterns, verbal skills, spatial orientation. So far, scholars haven't come up with a unified definition of what intelligence exactly is. Some define it as what intelligence tests measure, others say it's the skill to solve complex mathematical problems, and still others claim it should encompass a broader spectrum of human abilities (like musical talent and communication skills). Hence, you have got a lot of latitude. Good luck with your paper!

The question is pretty clear to me.
You can conceptualize it as the difference between an expert and a novice in a certain field.

Ok as near as I can tell, what your professor is asking you to do is define intelligence so that it can be agreed on and measured.
