Here's what the Environmental Protection Agency has to say about eating fish during pregnancy...catfish is listed as one of the fish that is "OK" to eat in moderation.

Fried catfish is a staple food where I live. I ate that as well as the fish sandwich from burger king while preg and my kids were born happy and healthy.

Catfish and salmon are the safest. Tuna, mackeral, talapia, and other ocean fish are higher in mercury and live longer in the wild so they have more pollutants inside them.

There are still no solid recommendations on whether pregnant people should eat fish.
Read these articles before making a decision.

I think you have to be careful because of the Mercury levels....is this fish caught in a local stream or from the store? if caught locally that might have more Mercury, but if not it's probably farmed fish, which would have less Mercury. As long as you don't eat fresh fish 4 nights a week or something like that, you should be OK

You need to stay away from fishy fish. I don't know if catfish is fishy, but the fishier the fish the higher the mercury the worse for your baby.

Here is an article about mercury levels, fish and pregnancy including a listing of fish by mercury levels. Catfish is in the lowest mercury level category, so it is safe. Enjoy:

In moderation is OK. Any fish can contain Mercury which is what they worry about. I would stay at about 1 serving per week.

Believe it's ok. Some fish contain mercury and you do not want too much of it when pregnant.
