i have a 98 civic dx auto and it has check engine light so i decided to run the codes. i was wondering if u guys would help me out. it picked up 5 codes

1) p420-catalyst efficiency below threshold (bank 1)

2) p0301-cylinder 1 misfire

3) p0302-cylinder 2 misfire

4) p0300-random/multiple cylinder misfire

5) p1456- manufacturer control auxiliry emission control

well when i turn on the car for the first 10 sec. or so it acts like it wants to turn off like its choking or something but then after it reaches a higher rpm it goes back to normal, it also been wasting alot of gas recently but other than that it runs fine. hope u guys could help thanks

Sounds like you need a tune up, your injectors may be plugged as well. I'd contact your mechanic and get it fixed, it likely will fail emission testing and waste alot of gas if you ignore it.

it is probably a burnt o2 sensor. Since the first troublwe code is a catalyst failure. or it could possibly be that you need a new coil pack and/or wires for cylinders 1 and 2. It could be a spark jump and is causing those cylinders to misfire. but check the o2 sensor first.

i own a repair shop and from those codes id say it has bad 0-2 sensors on it,check and see if they ever have been changed,they will cause all those codes to pop up,its running too rich,and causing it to flood is whats giving all the codes,and bad sensors will cause this to happen,good luck i hope this helps.
