Its not about taking control its about working to give it to the Iraqi people the same way we were given control back in the day with the help of the french.

He's already started, he might as well continue. Than even some of what little support he has in Congress and the country will totally errode. I really pity the Republicans as many good regular Republicans will be defeated in 2008. There will be a landslide for the Democrats similar to the 1964 election where Lyndon Johnson defeated Barry Goldwater and ushered more Democrats into Senate and House seats.

I doubt - highly that he has that many troops to begin with.
Besides if he did so then he would truly be occupying and undermining a country he had no business going into in the first place. His target was Afghanistan - Not Iraq.
No wonder I wouldn't want him in the fox holes with me.

The horror of war has wracked the world for thousands of years. Its fruits are terror, destruction, economic upheaval, orphaned children, population displacement, widespread devastation of the land, atrocities, hunger, disease, untold suffering, misery, despair, injuries, death and even genocide. All of this yields greater hatred and revenge, endless retaliation and more war, because nothing is ever permanently resolved through military conflict.

Because he might need a draft to do it, and then the real cost of the war would be evident to all of us, not just a chosen (relatively) few.

A stronger force of 500,000 is better to completely wipe out the insurgents and end the war soon. This is a good proposition but the Democrats might not approve it in Congress.

Because it wouldn't be enough.
The more troops we send in, the more volunteers will come from all over Asia, Africa, and even Europe, just as was the case when the Soviets were in Afghanistan, right before THEIR empire imploded.

Where is he going to find 500,000 more troops? Do you think he can just go to Walmart and buy half a million Chinese mercenaries?
