I am 22 and I am trying to find the girly side that is inside me. I had a major surgery almost 4 years ago and I went down hill. I don't know how to be my girly self anymore. I generally never put lotion on anymore and sometimes I go 2-3 days without a shower. I am 50 pounds over weight and I dont even wear jeans anymore. I want to change all of that. I go to the gym for my first training session on Monday. I am very excited. I am also working with a dietician. But they will only be able to help so much. I have let all my female friends go because of no ambition to do anything because of my low self esteem. I am hoping you can help me. Give me some beauty tips and suggestions. Anything that will help me be that girly girl again will be great. Even a few words of encourgement.

Give your self a spa day (manicure, pedicure, massage, etc) with your mom or someone who know who'll have fun with. it'll let you find your girly self and relaxation. start with light makeup and when your ready to put more, put more. (just don't over do it) something to make your self esteem go higher is talk with a friend, relative, etc and write down on a sheet of paper you and______decide are your best traits. Like you're super sweet or you're very beautiful. Look in the mirror and say I'm beautiful or something positive about yourself everyday. If you think you are it'll show confidence. To get a little bit of your girly side try doing a little bit (a lot) of shopping. Get dresses and cute shirts. Have a shopping buddy to help you pick out clothes for you. try showering daily. you'll be cleaner and putting on lotion and drinking lots of water'll let your body be smooth and not dry. Hope this helps. <3

Aw, honey, I'm sorry about your troubles, and low self esteem. I think it's great that you're taking steps to enact a change for the better. I would pick up a bunch of women's magazines for inspiration--Glamour, Allure, Self, maybe Shape. Lots of good advice about beauty, fashion, health, etc. Or check out some websites about those topics. I don't have any real specific tips for you, not knowing what you look like, but you are on the right track and I wish you luck in sticking with it.

Sweetie, a great daily pick-me-up is aromatherapy. Every time you shower, be sure to use shower gel that smells absolutely wonderful. When you dress, everyday, put on perfume - this is a must - people will tell you that you smell great, and this will make you feel much better.

Secondly, a perfect way to get out of the dumps is to just tell yourself that you are not going to be sad anymore, put a smile on your face, and move forward. This really works. I know this sounds simplistic, but I've spent years in therapy for depression and I finally just said I've had enough, I'm not going to be sad anymore, and guess what...I'm not!

If you find that you are still blue, maybe you need to find someone to talk to. Depression is serious and sometimes you need to just talk to someone to get out of it. I've included a website for you that is a test for depression. If after you take the test, and you feel you need more help, ask your family your friends or your doctor for a therapist that they can recommend, and good luck!

You are not lost. That is only an expression of speech. You are yourself. You always were yourself and you always will be, the same person you were before all this happened. Try to take ownership inside yourself that you are fully you. No part of you was ever lost, just maybe de-emphasized for a while. You and you alone can choose what side of you to emphasize in any moment. It isn't something that comes from outside of you. You can be the person that you want, and nothing was lost to you.
