How do erase all my files and make my Gateway computer restart as if out the box but keep one file?

When you turn on a Gateway computer the give you the option to do that and restart the whole Starting up the computer process as if you just bought it. But my question was how can i do that but save one file.?

Use the restore cd that came with your computer, use it to make your system as it as you said "you just bought it".

As for the saving of one file, just save the file to disk or cd before using the cd.

Save the file first, on removable media such as a floppy disk or burn it to a CD, or email it to yourself. Then restore the computer, then put the file back on the computer.
