I have a pen pal who says she's living in Russia. I haven't said anything to her about it but I noticed her address ends in yahoo.ca. What's up with that?

This is very well possible. If you go to the Canadian yahoo page from any part of the world, you can sign up for an email account. You might need to do some creative stuff with addresses, but it is very well possible.

You can create a Canadian email address in Russia as easy as it is to create a Russian address, a Singaporean address (.sg), or any other address. Checking you email from your home, hotel or Internet cafe in Russia is the same - you can pull up the Canadian site as easy as any other.

As long as there is internet connection, she can sign with Yahoo.
Beside you can be anywhere in the world....the suffix after the dot does not matter.
