Well an obvious suggestion is try to either upgrade a closer or add another decent one to your roster. 2 decent guys will win you saves some weeks but not all. And since Fuentes pitches in Coors Field, very hitter-friendly, blown saves could come aplenty. And Gordon is relatively new to the closer role, since he has been a setup guy in his career. And since I heard Papelbon is moving to the rotation...I don't think he counts as a reliever.

I recommend, and you many not agree with this and you don't have to, but I think you should trade either Carpenter or Oswalt for a reliever and second basemen combo. Some second basemen that I think you can get along with a decent reliever are Rickie Weeks, Brandon Phillips, or Julio Lugo. One of those three and a reliever like J.J. Putz or Bobby Jenks would be a fair deal for Oswalt or Carpenter. I recommended a better 2B cause Castillo is not a good fantasy option.

After upgrading on relievers and a 2B, I think you're good for there. Varitek isn't the best, but he is pretty consistent. Johnson has some good pop and normally hits around
.280 which should help the average along with Sanchez's terrific average. You know Rolen, Jones, Ortiz, and Thome will produce and Rocco is one of the most overlooked guys and he should be good. Since you are trading Oswalt or Carpenter, well maybe trading, you can put Padilla in who is a very underrated SP. He is already complimenting whichever you keep, Papelbon, Schmidt, and Bush. All 3 of those guys will be good.

Your team is pretty good.

I love your starting pitchers - nothing to improve on there...

Your closers are decent - it wouldn't hurt to add another one though and start 3 closers each week

Your lineup is ok too - but i would switch Ortiz to 1B and find another Util spot player... Nick Johnson's numbers just don't cut it in a fantasy league... also, look to pick up so middle infield help as Luis Castillo has been on the decline and I'm not so sure Freddy Sanchez is going to repeat what he did last year... and don't worry about picking up Kendall for Varitek - Varitek is a serviceable catcher

Other than that... good drafting and good luck this fantasy season!!!

Nick Johnson is out the 1st half of the year so you need a 1B, not sure if Ortiz or Thome qualify if not definite area to upgrade. OF is weak and another wouldn't hurt.
