Have you read the book The Phantom of the Opera? What about seeing the play? The movie?
If you've read the book have you also read the sequel? If you've seen the play what was your favorite part?
I saw the movie a year or two ago and just a few weeks ago it came here to DesMoines so I got to see that. And I JUST finished the book. One of my teachers says there is a sequel called The Phantom of Manhatten. I loved all three but the book was the best. The play was pretty amazing.
Just wondering what your views are on this.

Well, the book actually came before the musical did and the musical came before the movie. That is the way it is with most plays and movies. And each have different goods and bads. Though of course they are all amazing.

I am a HUGE Phantom Phan! I grew up listening to the original Broadway version with Sarah Brightman, Michael Crawford, and Steve Barton. Although they are all extremely talented, I must say that I do prefer the Movie version with Gerard Butler and Emmy Rossum. I like the young cast, and the fact that Andrew Lloyd Webber worked on the movie, therefore preserving the integrity of the show. The music is unbelievably powerful and beautiful! I read the book at the end of last year. The Phantom of the Opera, by Gaston Leroux, was better than I thought it woudl be. I assumed that I would have a mindset on the musical, but I enjoyed seeing the similarities and differences in the play and book. There is not a sequal written by the author of Phantom of the Opera, but there are sequals and alternate versions written by other authors. There are also other versions in film and tv show versions (both musical and not), the most commonly one being the silent movie version starring Lon Chaney. I must say, though, that I prefer Andrew Lloyd Webber's version of it by far.

Hope this helped!
