Okay now ... DON'T LAUGH ... these are REAL METHODS that have been applied by gardeners in my club and they REALLY WORK.

This may sound GROSS to some, but deer HATE the blood and urine of other species. BLOOD tells them DEATH is close at hand. You can buy pig blood from your butcher and pour or spray it along the perimeter of your yard area. OR you can get a male PERSON in your home to literally WEE WEE along the edge of your yard. BELIEVE you me, the pig blood WORKS BEST, and is not so odd to think about being in your yard! LoL

Some people will tell you to plant deer resistant plant, but deer ADAPT to plant species around them eventually. I am SURE you can't afford to replace your landscape every time they adapt to it and being eating the new plants.

Other than this I am unaware of any other TIP I have come across that works long term. AND ... I myself would not have the guts to ask my hubby to pee pee around our yard. I have TRIED the pig blood and it WORKED for me for 4 years in a row before I moved.

Human hair is ANOTHER method that WORKS.
If you don's have hair lying about, which MOST of us don't unless we are ODDBALLS! LOL
Go to a local barber shop and ask them to save you the hair in a bag. Sprinkle it around the perimeter of your yard. They will NOT come across it IF you use enough of the hair. They sense something is NOT RIGHT and the threat of death also is attached to this in their senses. They think something must have died there in order for the hair to be left there. The SAME is TRUE with animal skins, if you are a hunter you can place peices of hide about the perimeter of the yard, it works equally well. Deer hunters use this about their yard by hangin them on fence posts. And as a hunter myself I can tell you NO DEER will go even near to a place where other deer or animals have been slaughtered. This is HOW the concept of using blood, hair & hide was originally thought of.

I agree with the Irish soap. I have visit my uncle in yukiah California near San,Francisco that's what he does to keep deer away from his garden. It works because deer cant stand the strong smell of Irish soap they are sensitive to smells. Just dont use any soap that says "spring smell" because that will bring them in more. Just kidding but trust me it does work!

The Irish Spring will work. We hang it from our new trees, to keep deer from rubbing their antlers on them. But your best bet is to go to your local nursery and buy a animal repellent spray. About the same cost as buying several bars of soap! lol

Fence with one strand of wire at 6 to 8 inches off the ground and a second one at 3 feet to 3 ft 6 inches. For some reason this cheap fix is just as effective as anything else you can do.

There is a flower/plant that is supposed to repel deer if you plant some in your yard.
I don't remember the name, but you could do a Google search for deer repelling plants.

Heres a handy tip from me, dirty laundry is the key.
A pair of papa's underwear, a dirty tee shirt, hung with care.
Dad's old work pants with torn knees, dangling strategically from trees.
Don't forget his smelly socks, Bunched up lookin like some rocks.
All of these things deer will smell, turn around and run like hell.
