OK, your 2wire is a dsl modem/wireless roter package.

Have you gone into the routers setup and turned on the wireless radio? Also give it a name in the SSID selection.

It would be esiest if you had the manual and you looked it up. Usually you would open your web browser on the computer that type in the gateways IP address, like 192.168.0.1. this will get you to the setup screens.

You will need a DSL wireless router, that is a device that you plug your DSL modem into, that has 1 or more antennas on it that broadcast the wireless signal out to your laptops wireless card. You plug the Ethernet cable coming from the modem to the router. you can get a wireless router from just about anywhere that sells computer products .. Wal-mart, radio shack, ebay, Staples, Office Depot etc ..

I would go back to the person that told you that you could do this for more clarification.

Why is it important that it be "just one"?
