Wikipedia says a lot about toilet seats, but nothing about their history. Sorry.

My guess is - some ancient - possibly a neanderthalian whiz
got the idea soon after his olfaction shifted from low to medium or high.

to stop someone from falling int the toilet duh, I think the guy who first inveted the "actual toilet" we use developed the seat part, I think his last namme was like crap or crapper and thats were people get the word crap from
