I live in a very warm humid climate. If I was to store a mattress in a room that wasn't climate controlled will it ruin the mattress ?

Humidity is what you need to worry about if you can truly seal it in plastic you should be fine and take some of those little pouches of whatever it is - they come in shoe boxes with new shoes. and put those inside the plastic before sealing it use heavy duty plastic and make sure you duck tape all seams. Cedar chips wouldn't hurt either.

You want to keep the humidity low, so I'd use a climate controlled storage. The last thing you want is mold or mildew on the mattress.
