"The death of a beautiful woman is, unquestionably, the most poetical topic in the world.”
From "The Philosophy of Composition" by Edgar Allen Poe (1846)

i'ts very bollywood.
im guessing that if the woman was beautifull, she was still young enough to instill desire in men, thus they all had hoped to have a chance at 'having' her, in whichever context.
so, when she dies, there are a score of broken hearts lined up, and they are all lamenting that they never had the chance to be with her.
if it had been an older lady, maybe married with kids, then only a few would lament her passing. and the sense of loss wouldnt be so filled with a sense of 'unfinished business'.

Edgar Allen Poe was, while a great poet, a drug-addicted, necrophiliac,and a mentally ill man.
I find many things to be more poetic than the death of any human being.
Good luck

An even sadder topic is when an unattractive girl dies and no one cares because she wasn't beautiful on the outside, only on the inside....*_*

P.S. Edgar Allan Poe's first wife was his 13 year old cousin..

I strongly disagree. It's impossible to tie down a "most poetic" topic. Here are some examples for you:

* The condition of humanity
* Paradoxes
* The natures of truth, life, and/or reality
* The comparative supremacy and/or inferiority of things

If you want to get into the most profound topic, however, the existence and basis of something as common as language is FAR more astounding than something like religion or a beautiful woman.

I'll answer to your poet, 'EA Poe' with my Yodeler poet singer Jewel:

"She's an ugly girl, does it make you want to kill her? She's an ugly girl, do you want to kick in her face? She's an ugly girl, she doesn't pose a threat. She's and ugly girl, does that make you feel safe? Ugly girl, ugly girl, do you hate her ... 'Cause she's pieces of you?

She's a pretty girl, does she make you think nasty thoughts? She's a pretty girl do you want to tie her down? She's a pretty girl, do you call her a bi -- tch? She's a pretty girl did she sleep with your whole town? Pretty girl, pretty girl, do you hate her ... 'Cause she's pieces of you?"
