Why does the premise of a henpecked husband work, but the opposite doesn't?

My wife and I noticed this yesterday. On commercials, if a husband and wife are arguing, the wife will inevitable win...and most likely the husband will end up looking like an ***.

On television sitcoms, it is commonplace and perfectly okay for the wife or girlfriend to make the husband look like an idiot, or for the husband to just be an idiot by nature, However, you never see a husband or boyfriend getting the better of his wife or girlfriend...and if he DOES, you can bet she will at some point in the program turn the tables and make him look like an even bigger idiot.

So why does the premise one way make for great television, and the other premise make for anger and protest?

Because if it was the other way around, she would be c@ckpecked and that is so not right!!!

Seriously, I completely agree with you. This opens up a HUGE arena of inequality and for me to address it on this site would cause more angry email than I can handle.
