I don't agree. I work in the IT industry and this site is crap for technical queries. I just asked a very serious but valid question concerning printing and the only response I got back was "Good question. Have you tried replacing the batteries in the vibrator". I have a good sense of humour but unfortunately there are too many young people that use this site that try to be funny but aren't to be honest, I'd rather have straight answer to my query rather than an idiot giving me a response like this.
I say, drop the sense humour and do what the site is intended for and give the best answer. That's what the site is all about. If you want a site with humour you need to go elsewhere like Youtube.

I don't know. Sometimes humour doesn't translate well on screean, just looks weird. Sometimes I try to have a sense of humour when answering, but I've a feeling I'm the only one laughing. Oh well.

think the problem is that usually people don't read the question as being a joke i.e. they don't get the sense of humour of the asker...
or maybe, as you say they don't have a sense of humour.. it's probably due to the apathy of the masses that consumes us.

Because the humour is usually based on pretending to be an idiot. Unfortunately so many questions here are legitimately stupid beyond comprehension, so it's hard to differentiate real questions from fake joke ones.

Political correctness - you can't say anything without the risk of offending some pillock and getting reported to somebody.
