Without compromise, you merely have dictatorship. Compromise is what makes a democracy. The majority and minority usually have differing viewpoints. Compromises give the minority a say in government. In some cases, its the majority that needs to have the say. Years ago, in South Africa, the white people ran things but were a tiny percentage of population. Recently, that has changed and the country went to hell in a hand basket, but that won't always be the case. In America, a lack of compromise would lock one of our two parties out of the government. Personally, I think our system caters to the minority a bit too much. Look at recent happenings in Congress (before the elections). Anything the Senate tried to do, no matter how innocuous, was blocked by the Democrats in the minority. Particularly nominations for various government positions. Basically, the minority forced their viewpoint on the majority by blocking any action until their demands were met. This, to me, isn't compromise. Its extortion.

compromise is essential in democracy because some people are convinced they are making the right choice, while others think different. to compromise on a subject takes both sides into consideration, hearing both sides is crucial to democracy.

open the dialect,,, various opinions from experts in their respective fields are essential in a democracy,,
Bush talks the talk all the time,, he just doesn't walk the walk,,

intellect should be a prerequisite to becoming president,,
who knows why,, the right wing, born-again Christians were able to get Bush selected,, and elected again in 2004,,
over-educated under qualified cronies are running rampant in the Bush White House,,, the lies are mounting daily,, the incompetence among this government is widespread,, probably a result of promises made during the time he was Governor of Texas,,, check their backgrounds,,, and others in 2000,, and 2004,, Karl Rove,, Al Gonzales,, all on record...

Open government will not be a problem anymore,,
since 9-11,, when Bush asleep at the wheel,, or worse,, responsible,,, for the attacks,, still debatable,,,,
America has paid a huge price for the ignorance of Bush-Cheney,,, our nation wants democracy,,, but they want honesty,,, and morality,,, sorely lacking in this president and his team of thugs, traitors,,, and liars,,,,,,

Osama bin Laden,, the mastermind of 9-11 is still at large,, training Taliban,,, Afghanistan has been lost,,, the war in Iraq based on lies,,, and propaganda,,, has been a fiasco,,
the USA is divided,, and our enemies are united,,,

God bless America,,,,,,,, show your respect and patriotism by Impeaching Bush and Cheney!

Compromise is not important to democracy it is essential.
Through compromise the goverment can slowly and gradually change over time. It can also improve or degenarate. Also compromise is a attempt to make people happy. Through compromise many agreements can be reached, and it can also unfortunately cause many arguments to shoot up. Also compromise is a part of democracy. Power to the people my friend and i am no Marxist:)

Because for the democracy (including democratic republics) to continue functioning, everyone must agree to abide by the decision of the majority.

If not, then the minority ends up leaving, or ignoring the decisions of the majority, and the system breaks down.

Because in order to obtain the majority position you need to have the consent of many different groups, thus you have to compromise.
