I'd try several brands on in a local store before buying off the Internet. Not all of the major swim brands fit the same. Most sites offer a sizing chart and measurement instructions.

If you're buying a bikini never buy small unless you're built like a Chihuahua and never buy large unless you have breeder hips or a JLo rear. I've never noticed that much difference in the sizes for tops.

If you'll be swimming in a pool, chlorine will stretch your suit out so it should be 1 size smaller than what you'd normally wear. If you're buying a 1 piece swimsuit, here's the conversion:

32 is a size 6
34 is a size 8
36 is a size 10
38 is a size 12

Measurements are made in inches around the bust. So if you have a 34 inch bust you wear an 8. Most companies do not allow returns for obvious reasons.

Hi,

I'm a swimwear designer, so I hope I can help answer this question. First, you need a flexible measuring tape that has either inches, or centimeters, depending in the chart you are looking at. (You can find a tape at a sewing notions store, or possibly even the drug or grocery store.)

Check out the swimwear store's size chart to find the bust, chest and hip measurements for each size offered. It's best to measure yourself with proper undergarments on. Your bra should not have any special padding and your panties should not be tight, or restricting.

Start with the bust. Gather the tape around yourself and measure the circumference of your body around the widest area of the breasts. The waist should be measured around the narrowest area. and the hips should also be around the widest area, usually a few inches above the hip joint.

Compare your measurements against the size chart. If you are in between sizes, then I would suggest that you go up to the next size. If they do not have a chart, I have included a link from our own store, Tropi-Ties Swimwear, to give you a rough estimate.

Good luck finding that perfect swimsuit and have fun in the sun!

C.

You really have to go in the store the first few times. then once you get that suit you dont. after you get a training suit and you want to get a racing suit it might be tight but it will stretch you need a suit that is about 2 sizes smaller for a race suit for example if you wear a 28 in practice you will need a 24 and if you arent as serious a 26 it goes by even numbers just so you know.

that's really hard. I usually wear a size 8 or 10 but have a size 32 (size 6 in women's dress sizes) swimsuit. Probably get one or two sizes down from your regular size.

babe you cant... you have to try it and hope to returned it to the store... Like buy it online but from a place that have a store near you. But beware of store with no swimsuit return after purchused policy. Well you are a girl I assume. You should take a friend to the mall. And try before you buy. If your friend is a boy I am sure he would not mind :=]

It usually goes by your bust measurement for a female and a waist measurement for a male.
