It's a fairly easy read, and it will give many insights to a person who does not suffer from bipolar disorder as to how it feels and how it can compel deep suffering and exultation, as well as propel creativity to its limits.
BTW, "insane" is not a word we use anymore in health circles. We use the terms "mental illness" and "mental health". So what you're looking for is creative work by people who suffer from mental illness.

Hitler was an artist. He was definitly insane. Try to look up his art. some are actually not bad if you can believe it. For the poetry I would go with egdar allen poe.
