Because we are weird and uncomfortable...same as feeling too cold or too hot, it just is..some of us just don't look uncomfortable. If I had Trumps hairdo..that would be weird and uncomfortable, but he seems OK with it.

I feel weird and uneasy when I see an ex-boyfriend when I am out and about. I never know what to say. Its the same when I bump into old friends that I lost touch with. When its happened I make small talk and quickly make an excuse so I can leave. Its always uncomfortable.
I also feel uncomfortable in elevators.....standing next to strangers in such a close environment and not talking is weird to me.
One more, if I shop at a garage sale and do not want to buy anything then I always feel bad and uncomfortable. I think its because I worry they think I am too good for their stuff. Strange, I know but I'm being honest!

It feels weird learning about a culture i have never lived through.I feel awkward and somewhat out of balance with selecting words for my observations in classes i have not lived with. it just feels weird coming out with my version of which worm hole my thoughts must have gone through. thanks for the question.
