i very much doubt it....and just as a personal opinion I actually find it very offensive to have some one chat away with a coworker in one language and then turn to me and bark yes, then whilst serving me continue her / his conversation in another language.........
Put it this way I speak fairly good German so how would you like it if I did that to you.............JUST might make you feel as if YOU are the subject of the conversation perhaps !!!!!
If on a US military base then it is wrote that ALL conversations at all times by employers should be conducted in English [not that it is obeyed]
And if you wish to speak your language all the time suggest that you go the country that does just that.........as the USA is NOT it..........
Regards

It depends on the context. For the most part, on the job your boss can require you speak English--for the very good reason that everyone needs to be able to understand what's going on.
There are a few possible exceptions. If, for example, the issue is that you are talking with a co-worker during your lunch break in another language, your employer is out of line. Or if it has to do with what you do on your own time (when you are off work).

No, they are not. Unless you work for the government.
Free speech is only protected against government censure.
A private company or individual can limit you (on their property) as much as they want, because you can always leave and speak somewhere else. Or ignore them, in which case they can exercise any legal rights to remove you from their property. But a private individual or company is not able to punish you (in the legal criminal sense) for what you say. They simply have no way to enforce the punishment.
The reason govt censorship of speech is prohibited is that you cannot just voluntarily choose to ignore the government.
And, if the govt chooses to punish you, they can enforce it.

Freedom of speech has traditionally referred to what and when you say whatever it is that you are saying, not neccasarily in what language. What I mean by this is that you're not allowed to yell "Fire" in a crowded building. Your employer has a right to ask you to perform your duties in a specific fashion. Your boss can tell you what to do only at work. Your employer is not violating your freedom of speech.

It depends on where you work. If you have to speak to customers and everything like that, you should probably speak what the customer understands. It might be some kind of violation, you could try to call the local government to find out what the local laws are first.

I'd give your company all the business I could for making a rule like that. If you're in the US, SPEAK THE LANGUAGE (English)!
Why would you even come here if you don't wish to be a part of society? Why should your boss conform to you, and not you to the company and country that has accepted you?
If I were to immigrate to "your country" would it be acceptable for me to speak English? or would I have to learn the local language?
Enough is enough already. People used to come here and take pride in the fact that they could learn the language and customs of he US, if they contributed a little along the way, all the better. Now we he people coming here expecting we conform to them.......

No. And all you have to do is a web search for the First Amendment to see what it says.
And it doesn't say what you think it does, so get ready for disappointment.

If that were the case then each and every single company in the world would be sued.

I don't believe they are, as you are hired to perform a job which likely causes you to interact with english speakers. You should speak english while you are performing your job duties.
