I bought a color 20 GB ipod two years ago and have had to go to the ipod store 4 times to get it replaced bc of the bad harware damage. I do alot of running and am furious to comprehend that by paying $300 you can't jog with it. Can you jog with the Nano and does it break easily like the regular video ipod??

If you are hurting the video iPod device my running, then buy the Nano. If you can live without a screen, then the Shuffle may work for you too. Both of these are "solid-state" without moving parts, so they should survive the movement of jogging much better than a video iPod which is a moving hard drive. My wife loves the size of the Nano and can survive without having "all of her songs." Myself, I like the video because "I want it all of the music" all of the time. Hope that helps.

ipod nanos are made with flash technology, meaning there are no moving parts inside. So you can, essentially, throw your ipod nano against the wall and it will still work. Larger models, like the 30, 60, and 80 GB ipod videos are made with actual hard drives, which allow them to carry out more information. But the drawback of these hardrives is that they can be damaged, if the ipod is dropped, or banged around.

If you want to jog, i would suggest buying a cheap mp3 player. they are less expensive and work just as well as an ipod nano. that way, you can concentrate on ur run and not if ipod is ok.

hope this helps

I am in the Air Force so I have to do alot of PT. I have not had any problems with my Ipod Nano and I have had it since Oct 2005. I'm not sure about it being better versus the big Ipod because I've never owned any other kind.

I actually recommend the 4 or 8 GB ipod nano.

i bought a 30 gb video ipod and now i wish i bought a nano.

those things are freaking thin!
no worry about moveable parts inside the ipod. It works on flash memory. (the same stuff they use in memory cards and flash drives)

no, Ipod nanos are very good as long a you get an arm band for running and buy some sort of casing protection so it doesn't break when it falls.
