Instructions: Save the file to disk and then run it to install the patch.
Please make sure you have your game CD's available during patch installation.

This was on the site...is this just a precautionary thing, which means that you don't really need the CD's, or do i need to have them to install them?

No I believe you don't need the CDs to install the patches.

If downloaded, they don't need CDs. But when I installed the University expansion, it asked for disk 4 of Sims2. So maybe some patches need the CDs.

No. You can just download the patches from thesims2.com. They will work fine.

Go to "Torrentspy.com" and start a free user profile (takes 3 seconds) and download anything you need for free.
