They are exactly alike...

Our CIA and FBI helped plan the attacks on our country on 9/11

Your MI5 and MI6 helped plan the attacks on your country on 7/7

To find out more about how 7/7 was an inside job watch the FREE GOOGLE VIDEO: "Terrorstorm"

Basically the FBI and the CIA work togeather and the MI5 Agents and the MI6 Agents work togeather. And yes the FBI and MI5s are basically the same and the CIA and MI6 are equal. Also the FBI and CIA have equal power but in different places the FBI have more power in criminal justice and the CIA has more power in the USA's Security which branches off into Homeland Security.

No real comparison between the US and the UK agencies.

The FBI deal with crime across ALL states of the union, as the local police only handle events within their state, and even within their town, in some instances. In the UK, police do work on a county basis, but can make enquiries and deal with criminals across the whole country, with the assistance of the police in the other counties.

The UK agency MI5 has the business of searching out and catching spies, whilst MI6 is the agency that recruits and spies on other countries.

CIA is the US agency that spies on just about everywhere else in the world, and looks for any intelligence that threatens the security of the US, and other "friendly" states.

Our MI5 is closer to the US Department of Homeland Security and NSA. The FBI are in between them and the Police. The CIA is similar in remit to our MI6. They are not equivalent, but there are similarities.

The folks at the FBI are too busy writing their resumes to get better jobs to catch what's going on in the country. CIA is busy writing parody websites at their own recruitment.

No the FBI is closer to our detectives. The CIA is much higher and more like M15. Where as our M16 deals with operations abroad it is more like americas NSA i think.
