I think it is great what they (Dateline and Perverted Justice) are doing but I am suprised to find that some people think what they do is wrong. What do you all think?
Is it entrapment? What other solution is there to catch these people red handed.
I must admit, it worries me a lot.

sure it's entrapment
but it's legal

the girl should ask them while behind the curtain, in person, "do you want me to get naked and have sex with you?"
then, when the guy says "yes", they should shoot the pedophiles in the head

What Perverted Justice and Dateline NBC: To Catch A Predator are doing is not wrong or entrapment in anyway. Entrapment would be for the decoys to put up on-line profiles as adults and ask the men to come over and then have a 13 or 14 year old girl or boy waiting on them and arrest them for coming to see a minor.

To Catch a predator is entirely different. They put up profiles as underage kids. When perverts have sexual conversation with, send pornographic photos to and come to see people who they believe are 13 and 14 they are committing a crime. This is no different then undercover cops pretending to be prostitutes to catch Johns. The perverts deserve to get caught and got to jail so that they don't get the chance to meet up with real teens in the future.

It's a common misconception that what they're doing could be seen as entrapment. Entrapment is when the police create a situation where you have no choice but to break the law. This is in no way the situation. No one MAKES these low lifes go anywhere. The police don't give them a ride to a minor's home, tell them they have to sex with that minor then arrest them for it.
I applaud those involved in trying to PREVENT a child from being harmed or taken advantage of.

It's totally overblown- most of the time they think they're meeting a girl that have invited them over and likes them... It's just a bunch of media freaks playing on peoples fears. When I was a child my parents taught me not to talk to strangers and never let one in the house... Kids today are supposedly so stupid that they can't help it.

I don't condone older men with younger women, but I really don't condone entrapment either...

To Catch a Murderer would be a better service to the community.

I think it is a great program.

If there is anything upon this earth that I loath with all of my being, it is child predators and child pornographers. I don't think the punishments are harsh enough; I think they should be given a trial, and if found guilty, shot. They should all be killed so this perversion can be wiped off of the face of the earth.

Just thinking about this makes me angry, but I was watching this thing on the news and it was about something like this- one of those child predator traps. Anyway, these parents and some other officials were trying to hamper this sting because they were all upset that it was being done in their neighborhood. What fools! I doubt they would be so unhappy if it happened to one of their kids!

Yes, I've seen the show....those people have got to be the stupidest morons on earth---helllooo, don't THEY watch tv? I don't think it's entrapment at all, I think they'd do the crime whether it's the Dateline crew OR some real kid online, so this way they get caught, embarrassed (derrrrr) and hopefully put in jail.

Entrapment or not, it needs to happen! The victims could be our children someday. It always amazes me when they catch the same guy twice. It's a sickness these pedophiles have. I commend Dateline for opening our eyes to the situation.

The defendant must demonstrate that the police induced an otherwise unwilling person to commit a crime. I'm sure the cops didn't put a gun to their heads and forced them to come over to a 12 year girl's house.

I think for crimes that deals with minors, yes they should be doing this and publicizing them so the world can see it. This will deter people of thinking such acts.

I watch it and love it! I'm 14 years old. ^_^

I can't believe that some of these pervs are doctors, lawyers, police officers! This worries me a lot. It is WRONG to see chlidren as sex objects. It's just horrible.

I find it stupid that some people are saying, "Oh, well, isn't this entrapment? Blah blah blah.....". Tch. Must be pedophiles themselves.

I think it is great for the police to catch these criminals. However, I find it odd that America has enough of a facination to make it a popular recurring show. A one time special sure, but it is on soooooo often.
