The AMD is better. Less heat issues and if u use it for video recoding it will finish quicker. A dual core running multi threaded apps will usually outperform a single core of higher speed.

Come on now. That question is like saying, Which is better Pentium 2 chip or the Pentium 4 chip.
The X2 dual core is better. Now again, the Pentium 4 may play some games faster cuz they do not have the games to fully use the dual core processor chip yet. But with the dual core you are already upgraded. Say in one year when the dual core video games come out they will leave the Pentium 4 chip in the dust. Like the PCI-Express card leaves the PCI card in the dust.

We all agree, the dual core AMD is by far better than the single chip pentium 4 3.06. I have pentium 4 3.4 and it's slow when I run 2 or 3 things at a time. waiting to upgrade to the Intel dual core or AMD depending on the mlb.
good luck

the Athlon 64 is far faster, not including its second core. Plus you can overclock the Athlon to 2.4 Ghz.
You can also check www.anandtech.com or www.tomshardware.com for more info.

that E2160 will KILL the AMD as quickly as you overclock it previous 3.0Ghz that's amazingly attainable on inventory cooling. and what's with the guy that pronounces that the AMD will burn CDs quicker? Are you loopy? That has to do with the fee of your optical force, no longer the CPU...
