i play tennis, netball and sometimes go running and im 15 and tiny bit overweight, but when i play netball for awhile my left knee (sometimes right the odd time) is really sore just below the knee cap and around it.

What can i do before/after to make it better... i really want to keep on playing netball but it gets so sore!

Go to the doctor and ask for this band that you can put around your knee to help the pain....I use to have that to and it hurt a lot but the band helps a lot! Good Luck!

the knee is an amazing structure but it is not omnipotent. I've been playing tennis since you've been soiling your diapers. the first and only thing you should do at this point is see a professional. someone who will take x-rays and attempt to diagnose any condition you may have. if the x-rays don't show any damage he'll use your existing symptoms to prescribe whatever rest and rehabilitation is necessary to get you back in shape. your symptoms are a warning sign and your attention to them is your first line of defense against serious injury. when it comes to the knees, do not play the macho he-man, otherwise you'll be relegated to spectator sports. tada!

i would consult a doctor... it might be just overuse and sore but could be something more serious..

i know the knee is a very critical joint and you should really take care of it... and just like the rest of your body, you can train your joints to be stronger... it may also be a good idea doing knee specific exercises, to strengthen the muscles around that area; squats, lunges, etc...

you may also want to try glucosamine (i don't know if you are too young to start taking these) but it is a natural supplement w/ no side affects; usually taken to increase flexibility and strengthen knees, etc...!!!

This may sound odd but please try it.
You will be glad you did.
Take out your WD 40 and spray it on your knees.
Rub it in good. Does not smell the greatest but you
will be surprised. Keep on playing.
It comes in liquid form too. I find it works a little better.
Easier to apply.
