*SPOILERS*
I'll sum up season 3 for you:
Hurley, Jack, Kate, and Sawyer are betrayed by Michael and taken captive by the Others, but they send Hurley back to camp. Jack, Kate, and Sawyer are held hostage by the Others in what appears to be an abandoned scientific zoo because they want Jack to cure the tumor on their supposed leader, Ben's, spine. Kate and Sawyer's relationship develops very strongly. Jack is sort of falling love with the Other who brings him his food, a blonde named Juliet, who in later flashbacks we find was brought to the island by Ethan because she was an expert geneticist. Sawyer discovers that they are actually on a sister island to the one the survivors of Flight 815 landed on.
Jack agrees to do Ben's surgery, but at a vital point, cuts one of Ben's organs (sorry I forget which) that if not healed within an hour will kill him. Jack says he will continue the surgery if Kate and Sawyer are let go. They are let out of their cage and run as fast as they can, where they meet a girl named Alex, who is Danielle Rosseau's daughter, but she appears to not know this and claims to be Ben's daughter. Alex insists that they rescue her boyfriend, Carl, who apparently was locked up with a brainwashing machine by Ben. Juliet catches up with the foursome and another Other with a gun who is trying to recapture them, and shoots the other Other so that they can escape and Jack will finish Ben's surgery. She advises Alex to stay, however, because Ben "will never let her go," and he'll go search for Carl if she goes, so Alex remains on the island, and Kate, Sawyer, and Carl to the island. Once there, Carl wants to go back for Alex, and he leaves. Kate and Sawyer return to camp.
While this was happening Eko has flashbacks in which we see in more detail what Eko has to do with the plane Boone died in. Hurley returns to camp and tells the islanders of what happened with the Others. Locke, Charlie, Eko, and Desmond all survived the implosion of the hatch, but Desmond had a strange experience. He turned the key in the hatch to save the island is somehow transported back in time to before he left and when Penny and him were still together. Fate has it's way, though, and no matter what Desmond does, he winds back on the island, where he is found naked by Hurley. He saves Claire on two different occasions under weird circumstances. Charlie and Hurley team up to get Desmond drunk to confess how he knew Claire was going to be in danger. Then Desmond says that he was not saving Claire, he was saving Charlie, because Charlie would have gone to save Claire and died in the attempt. According to him, Desmond is having "flashes" of the future in which Charlie always dies. With these flashes he is trying to avoid Charlie's death by keeping him away from the activities he dies in.
Back in the Other's camp, Jack convinces the Others to not kill Juliet for killing the Other, but they still put a small burn mark on her back. The people from Flight 815 taken by the Others, including Cindy the flight attendent and the children, pass by Jack's cage because they are here to "watch" something.
As Kate and Sawyer arrive back at camp, the islanders rejoice. Sawyer is mad about the loss of much of his stuff. Kate insists they form a search party to go rescue Jack, and Locke and Sayid join her. They also convince Danielle to accompany them on the grounds that she can see her daughter, Alex. As they travel, they find another hatch called the Flame, the inhabitant of which is guy with an eyepatch who pretends to be the last member of the Dharma Inititive, but later turns out to be an Other who attacks them. After the other Other is found, she asks the guy with the eyepatch to shoot her in another language, and he does. Locke presses 77 into the Flame's computer, and it blows up shortly afterward. Kate, Locke, and Sayid take Eyepatch Guy as their prisoner. They soon come across a security fence, which the Eyepatch Guy tells them to cross to get to the Other's camp. Despite Sayid's directions, Locke shoves him between the fence posts to find that there is an invisible place between fence posts that appears to boil your brain and kill you. Sayid and Kate grow suspicious that Locke is not on this mission just to save Jack. They construct a bridge over the fence and cross over. They make it to the edge of the Other's camp to find that Jack seems to be a happy captive, as he is playing football with them.
Also somewhere in there we find out that Sun is pregnant, but it might not be Jin's because she had an affair shortly before they left on Flight 815.
