Did not see the match so it is hard for me to say, but I suspect he underestimated Canas who was coming if a 15 month suspension for steroids and was not mentally prepared.

Hmmm... You see sometimes players of great calibre like Federer have their ''off-days''. It happens to everyone, whether you are ranked 101 or 1. Sometimes, you just go to th court raring to go and then someone beats you. Its natural. I don't want to blame Federer but personally I think he totally under-estimated Canas. I personally feel that canas was never a bad palyer and on his day he can beat anyone. Federer would have thought that he could easily beat Canas who was playing after being suspended for doping and he isn't all that good on hard-courts coupled with the fact that Federer knows that he could beat anyone. Canas had nothing to lose, he just came out there and gave his best. Federer lost. End of Story.

I just think he fell off. He is a great player and knows his way around the court, but every player hits a bump every now and then, but he will most likely be right back in the action and back on his winning ways soon enough.

no federer was not hurt. but he was playing against a drug cheat. Canas used a diuretic, which is a blanketing drug. so then tests couldn't see if he had taken other drugs like steroids as well. if he had taken steroids which is highly likely, then he would still have them in his body now. moreover, he probably takes steroids that are new, and can't be picked up by testing yet.

he probably had only a bad day... he's human too
after all, wasn't it the time for him to lose and give a chance to other people to reach the finals

Well, sort of distraction if you ask me. It happens to EVERY player, so I think he will bounce right back in Miami.
