Depending on where you live, aluminum wire was able to be used up until the late 70's for interior home use simply because it was cheaper than copper. It is true that Aluminum wire is used for the main power supply but it was also used interior. In order to use the two wires together, you need to get an anti oxidant that won't allow the two metals to oxidize together. It is called Noalox Anti-oxidant Compound by Ideal. I found this stuff at any home repair store.

Aluminum wiring is common. It is less expensive, but due to it's conductive properties, it is usually one wire gauge larger than a comparable copper wire would be.

As long as the devices (outlets, switches, etc.) are rated for aluminum wire, there is no problem with it.

it should be ok, but i cannot understand someone using copper wire and aluminum in together in house wiring. aluminum wire is usually used on the entrance cable, or in heavier applications. are you sure?

Was wired at two different times.
The gfi should have screw contacts as well as push.
The screws will work.
