I wonder why you give formula at all? If you need to get him used to the bottle so you can go back to work, leave the room and let someone else give him the bottle. If you bottlefeed because you don't think you have enough milk, then you can be confident that you do have enough milk, even if you can't see it, feel engorgement, feel letdown or leak. Inability to produce enough milk is super-rare, but losing confidence in milk supply is very common. Anyway, my point is, forget about the bottle. Most bf babies I know would be insulted if mom tried to give a bottle, even if they take bottles from the babysitter. You can do it. Congratulations on breastfeeding!

Are you trying to wean him? I am an avid believer in "no formula ever unless there is a medical reason to not breastfeed" but it is weird that he only takes the bottle at bedtime. Do you just send him to bed with the full bottle? That's a big no no, it can cause tooth decay and choking. He should still be held for his nighttime feeding (breast or bottle) and then you should wipe his mouth or brush his teeth. As for getting him to take a bottle, try having someone else feed him, why take the bottle when the breast is right there, seems silly even to a 4-mo-old. I breastfed each of my boys for 15mos and if you want help, email me.

Don't let him actually sleep with the bottle. Especially at 4 mo old. He could choke on the milk for one thing - and while sucking on the bottle and falling asleep, milk collects in a baby's mouth (cheeks) and ends up causing dental problems. Even if he doesn't have teeth coming through yet, it isn't a habit you want to start. My nephew had to have teeth pulled by the time he was 1-1/2 years old because of sleeping with a bottle - the milk rotted his teeth.

Your hair falling out is prevalent. round 3-6 months your hormones start up to regulate and each of the spectacular lsterous hair that grew even as pregnant is falling out. do not deny your infant her proper of a minimum of one million 3 hundred and sixty 5 days of BREASTMILK! As on your a million 3 hundred and sixty 5 days-old; that infant could nonetheless be nursing too. Feed them at the same time! Its lots harder to be washing and combining and feeding bottles (propping is a choking risk, and your infant nonetheless should be bottle nursed in case you flow with pretend milk,) Than it really is to pop the newborn right into a sling and nurse on the flow.

Haha, sounds like your baby knows that breastmilk from the tap is better and wants nothing to do with a bottle of formula unless he's too tired to fight it off. Yep, that's funny!

Advice? Stop giving your baby formula and let him have what he wants and needs.

I'd suggest someone else giving the bottle to him--when he sees you, he knows you have your breasts with you and they should be accessible to him. I'd suggest pumping if you can and bottle feed the breast milk. If you're supplementing with formula, then I would again suggest someone else feeding him.
