Why Do Some Gay Men Have Feminine Voices?

I have a friend who is gay. I have no problem with that. But he has always had a 'feminine' voice. Why?

Thank you

Not all gay men have a feminine voice... alot of it has to do with their culture, background, genetics and also their personal training. If a person wants to speak in a feminine tone, they can certainly train themselves to do so. But also, keep in mind some women have very deep, gravely voices and that can be related to genetics.

I'm a gay man and I don't have a deep voice nor do I have an overly feminine voice. However, I do have quite a southern accent and can at times bear on the side of feminine as my words are drawn out with pure southern hospitality!

I know straight men who have feminine voice. What's the big deal? It's the vocal cords. And SOME gay men act feminine, but the majority don't, don't stereotype. I'm gay, but I love being a man, with a man's voice and a man's body.

Some gay guys have feminine voices, and some straight guys have feminine voices...just the way they are. Genetics probably have something to do with it, so...if God controls that, then it's the result of God...if God doesn't control that, then that's just the way he is. I don't know of any gay guys that intentionally make their voices higher to "fit in," but I suppose it might happen.

People are different. Some straight guys have feminine voices and some gay guys have masculine voices.

Everyone has a different voice, hard to control but it is possible to change if the person wishes. Not every gay person has the stereotypical gay voice, and even some straight people sound gay.

Some gay men adapt mannerism of a women. It helps identifies who they are.

But most gay men don't talk in higher voices.
I went to a gay party with one of my gay men friends and all the men there were gay.

I would say about 80 % there I never would have thought were gay to look at or talk to.

Also your question should not be offensive. If you are straight and don't have a lot of gay friends it's a different culture to you.

Not all of us do. Some gay men are so masculine you'd swear to God they were straight. Who knows, it could be just a matter of how much oestrogen they have. Not all gay men are stereotypical!

Well... I know some people genuinely have higher pitched voices, but I also think quite a few gay men put on a higher voice because they think they should fit the stereotype to feel comfortable with themselves.
