This product would need to work on silver plate as well as sterling silver.

3M makes a product called TarniShield. It not only cleans but helps prevent future tarnishing. Once I have cleaned it all and polished it, I wrap it in saran wrap which helps keep the air from oxidizing it and tarnishing the silver so quickly again.

If it's tarnished, nothing works better than TARNEX. It's about $4 and you can find it at most drug stores, Walgreens, K-MART, and the like. If it is tarnish-free or has a small bit of tarnish, use a soft toothbrush/or cloth with Colgate toothpaste. Rub the toothpaste into the surface of your silver in circular motions until the surface is completely covered. Let dry. Then buff with a clean soft cloth. Your silver will look brand new! You can clean silver jewelry this way as well.

tarnex is the first thing i use, then i go over it with MAAS polishing
cream that puts the finishing touch .. i think home depot has maas
