First of all, don't even pretend to know a thing about the hip hop culture. I was around to see it created. It's not a violent form of music anymore than Ozzy Osbourne biting off bats heads at his concerts in the 70's. If it weren't created by black youth, and worth billions, you wouldn't have a problem with it! In fact if rappers were majority white, any violence at a rap concert or venue would be explained away. Talk about double standards. As far as getting rich on violence, everything from Star Wars to War of the Worlds to James Bond is violence at it's peak. Where is the outcry over violent movie making white directors? Huh? What? Can't hear you? Can You hear Me Now?

I think it would be bullshit to say that hip hop is causing the problem... and it's true a lot of what these rappers are talkin about is just there life, as cold as it is, it's true. The kids that grow up in these neiborhoods where that is all you can do
( i.e sell drugs, join a gang)... you can't blame hip hop, you blame the parents , and educaters... as long as you have that stong communication with your child, then thats all we can do.

No way. People are not sheep.
The attitude that violence is cool in rap is also in endless movies, television shows, books, comics--all of these things have been blamed for the moral degradation of society at one point or another. In the 50's rock and roll was the devil's music, right?

Perhaps we should also ask the question what made Jesse James do all the killing he did and not just him, what about the Younger Brothers? I guess we should blame it on "She'll be Coming Round the Mountain. and "Clementine". I know there are lots more, but they are too numerous to mention.
Music has nothing to do with it; only a frame of mind is the key..

Young people are the cause of youth violance, adults being upset with the youth and the young not doing as they are told and expected by elders dates back to Plato.

No, but the people who follow in the steps of hiphop are to blame. It's easier to be a thug than to be truly successful. Dont blame hiphop because we have a choice to follow or not to follow.
