Neither side understands the religion ,culture or morals of the other........
The Iraqi idea of freedom is not the same as that of the United States..we don't seem to understand that... The civil liberties(?) and First Amendment Rights Americans hold on to are repellent to Muslim Peoples......WE DON'T THINK ALIKE !
They are repelled by the lack of morality and discipline that they perceive in Americans, we are viewed as libertine's and imperialists

Western Civilization, and even more particularly, Anglo Saxon components of it, embody the principles of liberal Judeo Christianity, Magna Cartian English Common Law and, in general, a quite humanistic outlook on life. In this construct, merit and hard work, combined with skill and acumen, ought to determine who rises in power, and who makes money. Fair play, justice and human rights are also featured prominently. Especially in the cases of women, people from other backgrounds and sexual orientations, the West's freedoms are cherished. It may come as a surprise to those who have not traveled extensively, but this is not the norm in most of the world. Instead, various forms of inherited power and Rule of Men, as opposed to Rule of Law, are the norm. Highly discrminatory practices abound, and underrepresented groups have few if any rights. Prior to the jet age, the inevitable clash of cultures these differences might cause were muted. But now, with global travel and globalist pressures in both the economic and social dimensions, cultures can no longer escape brash reminders of the other norms which exist. For conservative Oriental cultures (Oriental meaning, in this case, non Western Eurasian ones) the prospect of being swamped by our norms results in a reactive response, often progressing to hatred. Those in power in such societies have much to lose if Rule of Law and Magna Cartian thought were to replace their current norms. Hence, they hate us. Some of them actually seek liquidation of the West, so threatening are the above prospects considered to be.

The western world has commited it's share of atrocities in the past. However the past is in the past. Unfortunately many so called third world countries still live in the past and find it much easier to blame their problems on the West than try to fix whatever is wrong. Just look at Africa for instance. The number of countries being run in a reasonably democratic fashion can be counted on one hand, while the biiions of aid money winds up in Swiss bank accounts in the names of various dictators.

First of all--who appointedd the West the world's policeman?
Second , if what has happened in Iraq is your notion of "freedom" I suggest you get a dictionary--you obvously don't know what the word means.
Bottom line--we DO NOT have the right to impose our way of life on other people by force of arms. And the fact that a couple of hundred thousand Iraqis are dead as a result, hundreds of thousands homeless, 2 million refugees, and the economy andinfrastructure of their country in a shambles--might have something to do with the hatred directed against us.
There is no "white man's burden"--except to treat others with dignity and respect (you might want to lookup the meaning of those words while you're at it).

America is hated because we can't keep our noses in our own affairs. Look at the American revolutionary war. We took the initiative and fought for what we believed. We railed against an unfair and tyrannical country known as Great Britain. Iraq could have done the same somehow but deep down they liked Saddam. Bush should have focused on protecting our borders and not start some stupid war which he had no idea how win. Another example of Presidential incompetence.

its none of our business. Let a country take control, or a country NEAR it take control. They never asked that we go in there and bomb the place. We're not helping at all. So we killed Saddam, now it's time to get out.
We take "responsibilities" into our hands that nobody asked us or wants us to take. We are self centered and racist. That is why we are hated.

The reason is because it is not our responsibility to impose our culture on anyone else. If people in a country want freedom they will fight for it.

i believe we are hated so much because others are very jeoulous of what we have here and what we take for granted that not many others have. we have freedom, we dont have people saying we have to believe in one god or another we are allowed choice, we are allowed to make good and bad choices for ourselves and others. this is why others hate and despise us. we choose to try to help others who are not as fortunate as we are. we are hated and despised because of this and because their religions do not get their people togeather for all of the good things that can be done within a religion. they only start wars and spread fear and terror. that is why so many for hundreds of years now have come to the western world. to be free of fear, terror and persecution.

The problem is that Americans don't understand the mindset of most foreign countries. Muslim countries already hated us, now we gave them another reason.
We are our own good guys, so I say let's stay out of unnecessary wars.
Afghanistan: bomb 'em
Iraq: what r we doing there?!

I ponder that question also. It is because we are still considered the richest nation on earth; thus, everyone is jealous of us. Also, so many nations are brainwashing their children from birth to hate us.
