Are you a rhino or a hedgehog? .........?

Question

In a relationship one person is usually a rhino (more likely to react in an argument) and the other a hedgehog (more likely to withdraw). Which one are you and is your partner the opposite (or if single do you think past relationships may not have worked because you werent opposites?)

I am a rhino who tries to be a hedgehog. My wife is a hedgehog who tries to be a rhino. We usually meet somewhere in the middle. So long as we both make that effort to meet in the middle, we've done really well with it!

More literally, our system is pretty simple: when we have a disagreement, we take turns discussing it. While the other is talking, we make a legitimate effort to understand one another. In other words, I resist my rhino-tendencies the best I can, and we usually come to a fair agreement or compromise. It is not about winning the argument. It is about understanding.

Yeah me too, I think my boyfriend and I can both be fierce rhinos at times, I swear!

But not always, thank goodness!

I guess sometimes I end up being the hedgehog (more by force than my choice: I have to buckle down sometimes if I don't want the argument to escalate to humongous proportions!) but he never does because I honestly think he's more stubborn than I am, even though he would never admit to it in a million years!!!

i like to argue in nice ways so im a rhino and i like dating other rhinoes... thats how it works in nature right? whichever one is wrong should be the one to back down... thats how good relationships work.
