The way i look at things is that if whatever or whoever upset you in the past and made you a victim of that time and kerpt you hurt and trapped in the past, will have won if you fail to move forward. Whatever has happened as happened for a reason which is not always apparent especially when it something so deep and painful. But what has happened has made you the person that you are now and you are still here looking for solutions which shows that you are a fighter and determined to find a better life which is fantastic. Never let anybody grind you down and keep hold of your dreams because you are the key to your own future. The best revenge for injustices of the past is success and happiness! Go to sleep tonight thinking that this is the last day of your old life and tomorrow is the first day of your new life and achieve what you deserve!

PTSD. Not full blown, but similar. Your mind will replay the past until it feels it has mastered what was not mastered at the time. Perhaps you experienced a major loss, and this is a grief reaction. Perhaps you experienced a major trauma. Perhaps there is something in the past that is unresolved. "You can't move forward until you put the past behind you" -Forrest Gump. Or can you? There are those who force their attention away from the past, push it down, repress it. Is this healthy? Sometimes, maybe. If your past was not traumatic, then forcing yourself into the moment would be okay.

You must resolve the inner conflict your past has created for you to move on.
If you block it out it will manifest itself strongly later on down the line.
Even if it is just a case of acknowledging and accepting something that can help.
If its something more then you either need to talk about it with someone you know and trust and work through the nitty gritty or seek counselling where they help you work through it and make you think of ways to resolve things - like an action plan.
Good Luck.

It sounds like you experienced a lot of pain in your past. The reason you cannot forget the past is because things (events, circumstances, people) in your present are "triggering" your memories of the past.

Human beings learn new things by ASSOCIATION. When we are little we learn things like 'This is a chair'. Then 'This is a wooden chair'. 'This is wooden rocking chair'. One thing learned leads to another and another. Also, a lot of the things we learn have FEELINGS associated with them, like 'This is mom's special wooden rocking chair.' Seeing that rocking chair might remind you of special times spent sitting in that chair with your mom. And the memory will bring up the feelings that you had at that time. But, seeing other similar rocking chairs could also 'trigger' that memory and those feelings.

Triggers happen for both positive and negative emotions. A trigger could be anything: a person, an object, a smell, a song, etc. that reminds you of something in your past. When you are triggered all the memories just seem to flood into you without warning and you FEEL all the emotions of the memories, too. It can be very painful.

Emotions are just ENERGIES IN MOTION in our bodies. If you learn to understand how your emotions work than you can learn how to deal with them better. Emotions are meant to be FELT and RELEASED. They feel painful so people fight against feeling them.

Every time you don't allow yourself or you aren't allowed to fully experience an emotion, to feel it, and to move through it, the energy of that emotion becomes stopped and blocked in your body. It remains blocked until you go back and re-experience that emotion. Then the energetic block is freed and cleared. When you get triggered you just need to experience the emotion and RELEASE IT. Once released, it will no longer be a trigger for you...you will then have the memory without the painful feelings.

Virtually all of our physical ailments come from energetic blocks in our bodies, energetic patterns that are connected to our emotional patterns

One good way to release your emotional triggers is to use EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) or Emotional Tapping. In EFT you apply gentle acupressure tapping to specific body points to release blocked emotions. EFT is easy to learn (you can learn the basics in 15-30 minutes). You can use EFT anytime, anywhere for any emotional or physical issue. One basic round of EFT tapping takes about a minute. EFT works fast and painlessly,

Please download the FREE EFT Instructional manual from the EFT website (www.emofree.com).

I learned how to use EFT last year and now use it everyday. EFT really works.

The past is apart of you, so you will never be able to completly forget it, but you have to learn to move on and cope with whatever it was that happend. The past is the past, so move on and deal with it. I know it sounds harsh, but if you ever want closure then you have to stop thinking about it and concentrate on what's happening now.
