It's the quote about 85 percent of them being "loyal Bushies, etc, etc, etc" that busted them.
US attorneys do indeed serve at the pleasure of the president, but that doesn't mean that they should be fired when they indict members of the president's party like Duke Cunningham or that they should be fired for not reassuring republican senators like Pete Domenici that their opponents will be indicted before election day.
What was illegal was Domenici's call to the prosecutor. He's the one who should get fired.

They have to defend there reasons for firing them. Besides, when Clinton FIRED ALL OF THEM!!! It was no big deal then was it??
