As a man, I can tell you that women are as sweet as a man lets them be, if they want to be.

What I mean by that is women are not the same as they were 10, 20, 30, 40 years ago. Neither are the men.

The demands of Society today are much more pressurized on both sexes, but women feel the pressure more than men because of the things that have happened in history for women's rights.

It is my OPINION, that women are finally beginning to act like men in an "equal" society. Women want to work and have careers, don't want to stay home and watch the kids and clean the house.. A lot of them don't even want to have the kids, they wish the husband could.

In previous generations women were much more suppressed and opressed than they are in today's society. It is time for the women to stand up for themselves and become a more active part of the society and most of them are doing just that.

So, I say again, that women will be just as sweet as the men let them, if they want to be. It is no different than how men act. And why should it be?

Sweet or naive?
I think that you can be down to earth and practical while still being respectful. Therefore I don't think that ladies have forgotten how to be sweet, they just don't want to "act" naive anymore.

Were they 'supposed' to be sweet because they were called 'women'?
As for any gendered expectation thrown the wayside, maybe some people just got tired of learning how to be women/men and decided to be humans rather than gendered objects, the recepticals of gendered social expectations ^_^

Sweet is relative, Sweet is in the eyes of the beholder.
Sweet is in some & lost in others. Sweet is where the heart grows fonder. Sweet is home Sweet home. Sweet is not lost to those who look hard enough.

American Heritage® Dictionary: Description of sweet
ADJECTIVE: 1. Having the taste of sugar or a substance containing or resembling sugar, as honey or saccharin. sweetly, sweetness, sweeter, sweetest

can you define sweet?
by Ruth E. Alexandria

is it
the essence of sugar,
the sugar that drips from
the lips of laughing children,
the sugar that glides from the curves of a mango,
the sugar that laughs in the sunlight
from the tips of sweetened fingers?

or is it
the essence of natural sweetness
handmade and original?
like the shades of sunlight,
like the sparks of spice in the wind,
like the edges of brown skin tickling
the shadows in summertime.

it could be
the unspoken object of your heart's desire
staring with golden eyes,
underneath the commas of your thoughts.
the blown kiss from a sleeping lover
to the breath of her unknown partner,
christened with stardust and moonbeams,
released on gossamer wings,

Whether women have lost sweet or not all depends on what each individual means by sweet? And I ask the same question about men....?

Jewel sings it all:

"I was thinking that I might fly today
Just to disprove all the things that u say
It doesn’t take a talent to be mean
Your words can crush things that are unseen

So, please be careful with me, I’m sensitive
And I’d like to stay that way.

You always tell me that’s it’s impossible
To be respected and be a girl
Why’s it gotta be so complicated?
Why you gotta tell me if I’m hated?

So, please be careful with me, I’m sensitive
And I’d like to stay that way.

I was thinking that it might do some good
If we robbed the cynics and took all their food.
That way what they believe will have taken place.
And we can give it to everybody who has some faith.

So, please be careful with me, I’m sensitive
And I’d like to stay that way.

I have this theory that if we’re told we’re bad
Then that’s the only idea we’ll ever have.
But maybe if we’re surrounded in beauty
Someday we will become what we see.
‘Cause anyone can start a conflict
It’s harder yet to disregard it
I’d rather see the see the world from another angle.
We are everyday angels -
Be careful with me ‘cause I’d like to stay that way."

I dunno if 'forgotten' is the correct word, but yea, some just arnt. Maybe they feel being tough or agressive will get them what they want or give others a certain impression of them. But then again, being sweet can be good too. Guess it just depends on the woman?

I think a lot of women today feel they have to be aggressive with men and aren't sweet. I am though.

I don't know why some women feel like they have to be stinkers. It's like they enjoy being like that. We all have "bad moments" when we aren't pleasant, but what does it really accomplish being rude to other people? Have you ever noticed that some people (men and women alike) can be so beautiful/handsome and then you get to know their personality and realize they aren't so nice on the inside and it takes away from their outward beauty. The same for people who are not necessarily physically attractive - when they have beauty on the inside you don't really notice that they aren't necessarily attractive. I choose to be pleasant when I can. It makes me feel better about myself, and I hope it helps others feel good about themselves.

The ones that aren't still sweet probably have been hurt by a guy or two. Sometimes that's hard to forget I suppose. Sorry ladies, not all men treat you right but try not to be bitter. Bitterness is as hard on you as it is on others around you.

Women tend to be less sweet than in past years. I think because they have to now compete with men more than they've had to in the past.
