Hi UK builder here, fibre glass mineral wool does give a little sound insulation but it is poor, rock wool is a little better and so is loose lay material. Insulation board works OK as well ( polystyrene board )The thing you are looking for is Acoustic Insulation, B&Q used to have some but I dont know now. We fit this a lot and the last lot I got was from Warren Insulation. Bought some from Wickes last year also. It is like rock wool but more dense and comes in the block sizes.

if you want sound insulation you need whats known as deafening!. its just gravel and rubble placed between the floors of apartments. you need a structural assement by a professional before you place it in. this is an old and cheap practice the new regulations are probably stricter. as for fiberglass i would opt for rockwool sheeting. and its fire proof it could well bring your house insurance down.
