This depends entirely on the couple. If you both want to subsist on peanut butter and jelly sandwiches or cup o noodles every day for every meal and drink just tap water, you could spend just as little as $150/month + toiletry items = ~$200/month.

Hopefully, you're trying to aim for getting balanced and nutritious meals everyday for both of you, which could cost anywhere from $500-600/month or more, depending on where you buy and the quality of the items.

In the end, it really boils down to what you can afford. After finding out how much you both are saving each month (after expenses), you should allocate a grocery budget and try to stick with it. After the first couple months, you'll be able to re-assess your buying/eating habits and adjust the numbers as necessary. Good luck!

You can live pretty cheaply if you want to. I would figure about one and a half times what you would pay as a single person. If you are a gourmet cook, however, it will be considerably more. The actual cost of groceries depends on where you shop -- and where you live. I live in Kansas and I shop at Wal-Mart and Aldi for most of my groceries. If you live in New York City, groceries will cost considerably more.

it depends on how big of an eater you both are. i can feed 5 on about 350.00 a month and two are teens. so i would say if you arent big eaters you can do it on about 200.00. if you eat out more then probably less actual groceries. just be sure that you know what each other eats or you could have stuff go bad and that is a waist of money.

About 300.00 dollars, not including dinning out. Most of the food went to waste because we went back and forth to my Mother's house.
