I recently got a stickshift car (2001 Altima) I know how to drive it, and I know the fundamentals of driving a manual transmission car (downshifting, engine breaking, double clutching etc.). I have one problem though, when I am in first gear, and shift into second gear the car kind of slows down, it isn't violent or anything, but I would like the shift to be a little smoother. If I want to accelerate really fast, it slows me down. I don't what the problem is, is it me? Maybe I'm not shifting fast enough, but I do shift pretty fast. Is it the car? I don't know every thing is fine with the car. Please help.

The car doesn't slow down when I let the clutch up it just slows down when I actually push the clutch pedal in. Say I'm driving in first, as soon as I push in the clutch pedal the car slows down, when I let the clutch up everything goes smooth the slowdown jerk is when I actually push it in.
