PC's are better than Macs. Don't believe the Mac ads saying they never crash or get viruses. I have owned one, it got 4 viruses in it's 3 years of use. It crashed once. Dell is the best brand of PC. Very reliable, and great support. I recommend not buying it from a store. I ordered mine online. If you order online, you can customize everything about. I mean EVERYTHING.

Actually "best" is relative when it comes to purchasing a PC. I've built custom systems both personally and professionally and I try to tailor each computer to the needs of the user. If your ideal computer is something low cost and just used for word processing and browsing the internet then your needs aren't going to be the same for someone who wants a bleeding edge $5000 system for playing the latest video games or running a 3D graphics workstation. Also if you prefer a notebook over a desktop or want something quiet, small, etc... There are many different choices when it comes to a perfect PC. The best places aren't always the Dells, Compaqs, or eMachines, but the niche shops that let you customize and build a PC to your needs so you make the get the most for wallet for what you end up buying. The catch is it pays to do your homework and find out what suits your needs the best.
Are Macs better than PCs? Actually it depends on what programs you want to run and what you what kind of purpose you're using it for. Macs are great as office machines, and popular for film and photo editing, music, and a competent alternative to Windows PCs. It has far less out-of-the-box problems with spyware and viruses (but is not immune contrary to popular belief) and has a very friendly and powerful OS (operating system). The biggest weakness of the Mac is there isn't as much variety of software and most of the 3rd party games and software are still primarily designed for Windows based PCs. Also there is far less flexibility in terms of hardware upgrades for a Mac than PC and therefore less selection when it comes to Macs, but in someways it makes it simpler to purchase since there's less thought and research involved in a purchasing between different models.

if you are into gaming then get a pc if you just use the net and email stuff like that macs are less likely to get spyware since like 95% of computers are pc. but if you want a good price goto www.gotapex.com they give you coupons to dell and hp and you can buy on credit from them.

I personally like Dell. You can order online or go to a Dell store or Kiosk.
I like Windows over Mac because they are easier to use and more software is compatible with Windows.

apparently dell seems pretty good. compacqs you can get quite cheap apparently, works pretty well though. acer overheats quite often. hp is pretty good, very sleek deisgn too. you can try future shop or best buy or their websites. macs are better, anti virus wise and stuff. but for me i perfer pcs. how you save pictures and everything on macs just drove me crazy and many programs and instructions that you get online apply to / only for pcs

Dont listen to the other answers because i'll bet you they're never used a mac in they're life. ive both used a dell and an imac and i loved the mac so much i smashed than dell. if you wand a fast computer get a mac . when i had a dell i had so much problems that i wound up spending over $2000 on the dell (it cost $500 when i bought it!) BUT if you do decide to get a pc get ANYTHING BUT A DELL. beleive it or not macs are actualy BEST with gaming ok you need a copy of windows and bootcamp, but once you have windows installed especilly on the mac pro its a gaming demon just begging to be played not to mention if your going to make movies mac is the way to go because windows movie maker sucks b*ls mac and because the mac has a built in camera so its also the best computer and. and windows is so slooooooowwwww it takes 47 minutes just to install windows and the make only take 7 minutes to install if you're like me you want to get to use you're computer and while your waiting for mac os x to install it lets you log in and go on the internet while you waitwindows makes you sit and sit and sit untill windows is finally installed of course you could go watch tv while you wait but when most people get they're first computer they're a little excited so they sit through the whole installation with and again most people do not want to wit 47 minutes to get on they're computer and when you first turn on your mac you are greeted with a nice little chime compared to thee sound of fans and installation cds with windows and macs are completly silent almost as though there are no fans in the mac but of course there are the fans are just silen. I hope I helped and good luck on buying a computer hope you make the right choice and if you do get a pc DO NOT GET A DELL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! IF YOU GET A DELL YOU GET DELL YOU GET HELL!!!!!!!

The Apple Store does offer credit, but mine sucks, so I've never been able to get it.
Benefits of Mac:
No viruses, or any other malware for that fact. (This is due to Mac OS X's UNIX underpinnings, not "lack of users" or "low market share.")
Seamless integration. Your hardware will work perfectly with your software, because both are designed by Apple.
You will enjoy many advanced features that are not available in Windows, even Vista. Features like Exposé, Spotlight Search, a built-in dictionary that can be invoked in any application with a simple keystroke, easy to build scripting using Automator, zero-configuration networking, system wide spell checking and many more.
Macs can dual-boot with Windows or run Windows within Mac OS X itself. With BootCamp, you can dual-boot with Windows and run any PC application, even high-end games.
Excellent support and customer service. Apple is well known for it's support. I had a wonderful experience with Apple when the logic board in my Mac mini went bad. (This was due to a power issue in my home, not the Mac.)
Great software. Most of the software made for the Mac is better than similar software for Windows. Crap doesn't survive on the Mac market. iLife is absolutely amazing. Mac OS X is compatible with many file formats, right out of the box. As I mentioned before, you can run Windows applications. With a Mac, you can have it both ways.
Beautiful hardware. Quality hardware. Apple puts the sex in tech. Apple hardware is always beautiful, as well as functional. Apple has extremely talented engineers. One look at an iMac will tell you that much. The hardware is of excellent quality and built to last. Macs are well known to have a longer life span than PCs.
Upgrades? Who needs them. A seven year old iMac can still run the latest release of Mac OS X. Sure, you can add more RAM or get a bigger hard drive, but your Mac will run beautifully for years to come. When a new version of Mac OS X is released, you won't need to scramble to purchase upgrades in order to run it. (Leave that to the Vista adopters.)
Crashing. It doesn't happen. I'm not saying Mac OS X is absolutely perfect, but it's damn close. Most problems are easily fixed within minutes. Macs don't require the constant maintenance needed by PCs.
Value. When all of these things add up, you'll actually be saving money, as well as time, in the long run. You'll find yourself actually doing more on a Mac. Things you never thought of doing on a PC.

NOT BEST BUY!!! They took my money, canceled my order and wouldnt give the money back until my bank called them! I had several dells and had lots of problems and their remote access program is so bad for your computer!!!!! I bought an HP from Circuit City- they have great in store pickup in 24 minutes too!- and its a great computer. People come up to me in airports when I am working on it just to check it out.....I suggest HP for sure. My boyfriend has a MAC and its great for film editing and picture sorting, but we use mine for everything else.
